Workload and learning forms
The module includes 30h of contact hours on campus where activities take many forms. In addition, there will be 10h of preparatory readings and 35h dedicated to additional readings and reporting.
Students are expected to meet at the sessions on-time, well prepared and to have an active participation in seminars, excursions, labs, and fieldwork. Many of the sessions are based on active and experiential learning. Participants will search for published literature to complete their assignments. Teamwork will a normal work form during the physical workshop.
Student Assessment and certificate
A certificate of performance will be issued to each student after successful submission of a portfolio of works, some of them performed by teams of students. The final assignment on a given topic will be individual.
1- Summary report of the different sessions and specific assignments or presentations.
2- Final individual report (10 pp) on an inter-disciplinary topic. The topic will be assigned at the onset of the workshop, and the report must be submitted latest one week after the end of the workshop.
3- Course evaluation, on-going and final report.
4- Individual reflection on learnings and impact of experiences (1 page; see below)
Calendar and venues
A preliminary plan of activities in week 41 (9-14 October 2023) is shown. The order of the activities can be changed in short notice owing to contingencies, particularly the day of the outing in the fishing vessel. This depends on the availability of the vessel and on the weather.

The normal time of the sessions in the morning is 8-12; afternoon 13-16; evening, variable. There is normally a 15 min break every hour in on-campus activities. Special early sessions take place at 07:30-08:00.
Connectivity
All students will have guest access to the Eduroam network on-campus. This covers all buildings, including the living quarters. This connection does not give access to the digital library of the UiT. All the base literature will be provided by the lecturers.
The syllabus and all the material required for the course is available to the students in this website two weeks prior to the onset of the residential module (see preparatory readings).
Submissions and feedback will also be performed in the LMS. Other communication will be performed by e-mail.

Course Evaluations and End-term Student Feedback
We want to improve the course as we walk it, but suggestions are accepted at any stage.
1- Daily feedback from students – Daily de-briefing with module coordinator or assistant. This includes assessment of the learning and living conditions.
2- End-residential module evaluation – a report authored by the group of students, written, and presented orally in the last day of the module. This includes feedback on the organization and achievement of the module, in terms of the ILOs, as well as personal feedback on the staff involved.
3- Feedback from the staff – short daily assessments of the student participation and module organization.
4- Final reflection (public) – Short report on level, participation and achievement authored by the module coordinator.
